I'm not a huge expert on photography, but I do know a brilliant picture when I see one.
First, the slightly off center foreground really makes your eyes look at all part on the image. The path also draws your eyes to the center of the image.
I also really like how it has quite distinctive foreground, middle ground and background (grassy area up front, ladder looking thing in middle, field area at end of path at back).
The light, airy colors are very lovely- it still captures the richness of the forest because of the lovely browns of the trees and the fading green makes the whole piece feel like a dream, or a memory.
The subject is something I think most people can relate to, and holds a special place in everyone's memories. It immediatley made me think of many walks my family has gone on through my favorite local forests.
Overall- a stunning and impacting piece, there is nothing at all that I can think of changing.
I love the coloring here, the golden hues and the redness of the trees gives the image a very ethereal quality. Your eye is lead through the image, and particularly to the scaffolding, which adds an interesting story to the image - it offers questions that enhance the viewer's interest. I also like that the "destination" as it was is so bright - that is very inviting to the viewer and the mind. For being a square image this picture has great height, the vertical of the trees really stretches the frame and gives a lot of depth to the image physically. Very well done.
